NBA All-Star Fan Challenge

Coinbase wanted to engage basketball fans with an activation that showcased the possibilities of Web3 without requiring previous blockchain knowledge. The experience needed to be intuitive, rewarding and capable of introducing thousands of fans to the Coinbase Wallet in a simple and engaging way.

The activation combined competitive gameplay, robotics and digital collectibles into a single connected experience. Fans signed into their Coinbase Wallet, challenged the robotic hoop to score as many baskets as possible, then minted exclusive digital collectibles and unlocked merchandise rewards. By removing the complexity traditionally associated with blockchain technology, the experience encouraged widespread participation while creating meaningful engagement with the Coinbase ecosystem. Over the three-day event, the activation attracted 1,200 players, generated 1,100 digital collectibles, and welcomed more than 11,000 visitors to the campaign microsite.
